Transcribed and edited by Amy Porter. The Six Suites for Unaccompanied Cello are some of the most frequently performed and recognizable solo compositions ever written. Master flutist and teacher Amy Porter has meticulously transcribed these pieces for performance on her upcoming CD. She has kept the integrity of the original Bach masterpieces while making them more idiomatic for the flute. These pieces are appropriate for teaching and performance, and are now available in this wonderful, newly edited collection, simply a must-have for any serious teacher or student.
Edited by Allan Cox. The Studies in this book are intended to build a high degree of technical proficiency by means of intensive work on scales, scale patterns, seventh-chord arpeggios, thirds, sixths, chromatic sequences, fast staccato, and various duet selections covering in part, the extremely high tones such as D and E. These exercises have been an integral part of my teaching for years, a daily discipline for my students. I require the non-duo studies from memory (in the first ten of them the formulas are not difficult to grasp, and it only remains to play them in all the tonalities).
By diligent and careful work on these daily exercises, students will build a flawless technical foundation on the flute and more advanced players will keep themselves in shape. These studies have been my own personal warm-up for a large part of my career.
Presents tuning, proper positioning, basic chords (C tuning) and folk songs for strumming and singing. Very easy to comprehend, even for the absolute beginner. The book teaches rhythm accompaniment in several meters. Each song includes lyrics and a suggested strumming pattern. A companion video is available and recommended to ensure accuracy and ease of learning.
Part of the Belwin Master Solos series and prepared under the direction of Keith Snell, each of these folios contains a collection of graded solos that should prove to be a useful source for both student and teacher. Each folio contains works from the Renaissance, Baroque, and Classical periods, folk songs and traditional tunes, and a section of original compositions. For the student, these solos will provide material with specific challenges in rhythm, range, and key signatures in music that is both instructive and enjoyable to perform. Each solo has been selected and arranged to challenge the student in different areas of technique and musicianship while providing exposure to a variety of musical styles that are enjoyable to perform. In addition, special attention has been given to creating accompaniments that are easy to play yet at the same time add interest to the solo parts.
