Composer’s Note: Morning air is thebest. Especially in the late Spring or early Fall when the mornings are cooler and more crisp. The higher tessituras of the G flute and the piccolo proved to be perfect to write a piece about this special time of day for me when Flute Specialists, Inc. commissioned a duo for this unique combination of flutes! Be sure that performers listen to each other, as the melodic lines are passed between the duo a lot. Dynamic markings are a crucial clue as to who should stick out more-please exaggerate dynamic changes!
