Parallax for Low Flute Duet

Written by Dr. Julie Stone, commissioned by Flute Specialists for the 2023 NFA Convention in Phoenix as a part of the showcase “The Highs and Lows of Harmony Flutes”.  This piece contains three versions: alto flute duet, bass flute duet, and duet for 1 alto flute and 1 bass flute. The word parallax is a space term that refers to the apparent difference in position of an object when viewed at different angles. The music incorporates this idea with varied starting points of motives and different directions of appoggiaturas and moving lines.
