Doable Duos are based on familiar melodies and the range rarely exceeds two octaves. Major and minor keys through three sharps or flats are used. By forcing each player to perform the accompaniment, sight reading and musicianship improve. Performers learn and hear unfamiliar melodies that sing the bass line, imply chords, create fill-ins, and serve as musical development. Counter melodies create interest by stretching the mind’s ear to new possibilities. Doors open, and beginners pass through.
